Karnage, a Japanese artist living in Nagoya, has released a new album that expresses his unique experimental music through delicate sound processing rooted in bass music, inorganic and abstract sound design reminiscent of noise metal dub, and a fusion of a decadent and industrial worldview and cutting-edge beats! In 2011, he started composing music, mainly bass music. He was also active as a DJ, based in Detroit, where he lived at the time. He has released many works so far, and in 2020, his collaborative album 'Facing Inner Struggle' with British MC Rider Shafique was highly praised for it's wide range of sound design and chemistry with the vocalist, despite being composed entirely of dubstep. In pursuit of more original and unique sound design, he began performing live sets in 2022. He expresses his own worldview in real time by passing the sounds generated by sophisticated hardware equipment through a number of processes. In 'Dystopian Synthesis' released in 2024, he expresses a dystopian worldview centered on the equipment that is the axis of his live set. It became the definition of his unique sound and worldview. This work expresses the industrial worldview that Karnage himself experienced in Detroit, and the human emotions after relocation and the COVID-19 pandemic, incorporating collaborations with numerous artists. 'Sinking into a Spiral,' a song featuring Michiru Yumesaki, the frontman of Moreru, a new generation alternative noise hardcore band from Tokyo, is a lyrical song that combines chaotic vocals and sharp noise. 'Sanguneous Sacrilege,' a song featuring Taichi Nagura from ENDON, one of Japan's leading extreme noise bands, is an avant-garde sound that seems to express unstable emotions, with explosive sub-bass and surprising vocals that disturb reason. 'Method,' a representative song of BLACK GANION, a hardcore band that calls itself Super Metamorphosis Grinder, is reconstructed with the members and recorded, and the bizarre noise invites the listener into an industrial dystopia. In 'Hymn to the Dismal World,' a collaboration with bass music producer Dayzero, with whom he has previously released collaborative songs, he expresses his anger and sadness toward things that are constantly being worsened in an ephemeral manner over a simple 8-beat rhythm. On the technical side, the sophisticated design, which makes extensive use of delicate sound image processing and hardware with roots in bass music, achieves the ultimate deep bass and sound balance that can be experienced throughout the entire work. The slow-motion heavy industrial dub techno reminiscent of Justin K. Broadrick (GODFLESH/JK FLESH, etc.) and Kevin Martin (THE BUG/KING MIDAS SOUND, etc.), or even the Techno Animals of both, is rare not only in Japan but around the world.Songlist1. Dust To Dust ft.
